About Me:

My name is Dan and I am a current private sector Paramedic and former NHS Paramedic for East Midlands Ambulance Service NHS Trust.

My role as an Ambulance Paramedic requires me to be the clinical lead on double manned ambulances with Emergency Care Assistant colleagues as well as working alongside other highly experienced Paramedics attending all types of emergency calls from 111 NHS Pathways to Category 1 999 calls. I also hold the IHCD D1/D2 Emergency Driving qualification.

Prior to my NHS career I was a Royal Air Force Medic based at RAF Scampton providing medical cover to the RAF Aerobatic Display Team (Red Arrows) and other RAF units/ squadrons in the Lincolnshire region and beyond.

I have served in Afghanistan working with the Deployed Aeromedical Evacuation Team on both strategic and tactical evacuations in areas such as Kabul, Kandahaar and Helmand Province. I have also seen service in Dubai, Cyprus and the Ascension Islands.

Throughout my career in the RAF I have gained experience in areas varying from minor injuries/ primary health care to multi-system trauma. I have also received a recommendation for the Ambulance Service Institute Special Incident Award & Military Award.

Since 2012 when I qualified as an IHCD Ambulance Technician I have worked with some amazing companies providing medical cover at various events from racetrack to festivals. I enjoy the close-nit community of the pre-hospital care arena and I have worked with highly experienced members of the medical community from First Aider to Consultant Level.

I have a passion for my job and enjoy patient contact in any environment from the houses of suburban England to the challenging environment of Afghanistan. I also believe strongly in passing on skills learnt to junior colleagues which is what has developed me from a basic Medic to the level I am practicing at today.
